We had decided to hike more. So we looked for ours Stay in Trier<\/a> in the area for hiking opportunities and came across the Devil's Gorge <\/strong>and Irreler waterfalls<\/strong>. This is in Ernzen directly after the Dinopark. On the first day we arrived in the late afternoon in the large parking lot where we also stayed overnight. Since Finja still had to go running, we looked around to see where the trail begins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Teufelsschlucht Eifel hike<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The hike through the Teufelsschlucht is pending. We set out to do the big 5.8 km hike. This way is also called the devilish eight<\/strong> and is completely signposted with a yellow sign and a white eight with horns. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are 3 hiking trails that are between 2 and 6 km long. It starts at the nature park center, which is behind the Dinopark. The entry into the Devil's Gorge<\/strong> is very impressive, left and right rocks, which are made of sandstone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gorge was formed thousands of years ago when a large block of sandstone erupted and struck into the depths. Sometimes it is quite dark there, as the paths above are covered by trees or the crevices through which you walk are very narrow. Very impressive with pretty steep stone stairs. There are also stone formations with holes and crevices, some of which look like faces. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The stone is beautifully marbled in between with sand colors, brown and gray colors. The devil<\/strong> from the Teufelsschlucht we also found a stone structure with a face painted on it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In between, when you step out of the forest, you have a beautiful view of the surrounding country. Finja definitely has a lot of fun with this round. She tears and runs, is curious and really in a good mood. After 0.8km we are through the Teufelsschlucht. It was a very impressive hike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Irreler waterfalls<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After a short drinking break we are on our way, the yellow eight, devilish eight<\/strong>to keep walking. Even after the Devil's Gorge, there are still impressive rock formations on the path of the devilish eight. And on it goes through rocks or rocks over them. The weather is super nice and just wonderful. To get from the Teufelsschlucht to the Irrelern waterfalls<\/strong> To come, you walk on the devilish eight through the forest over hill and dale. A very beautiful forest path, pure nature. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the Irrelern waterfalls it is very loud, so the water rushes. The waterfalls are spread over different stones and heights, so that it is only called "waterfalls", but does not look like real waterfalls, but are rapids of the Pr\u00fcm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here on the river bank we took our snack break, ate and drank something and provided Finja with food. It was really very nice. Sebastian took a few more water photos, in the hope that they will also be something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The way back through the Devil's Gorge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The way back from the waterfalls is first on a paved road. You walk along the Pr\u00fcm River. When growing hops, it goes back to the forest. Shortly afterwards, a black mud puddle surprised us on the way through which we had to go. Finja was wearing black socks because she jumped through them. A little further up we could then clean them up in the stream. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to the stones that are in the stream or a little higher, there are always smaller waterfalls. The way back goes partly on narrow paths, where branches are cross in the way or close to the rock. At the end we come to a wide path that leads us back to the nature park center. We almost stepped on a blindworm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A beer break<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The hike was really exhausting due to the constant running up and down. And since the routes were not easy, you also had to be careful where you stepped. But it was a super nice tour! We have 5 1\/2 hours with some breaks and take photos for 263 meters above sea level<\/strong> needed, which you first had to run down completely and then up again. The official hiking time for the 5.8 kilometers is given as 3.5 - 4 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finja did a great job too! She will definitely go running on strike the next day. When we arrived at the nature park center, we treated ourselves to a cyclist as a reward. Then I went to the store because I wanted to buy proof of the devilish eight. The saleswoman then said that this way would be really diabolical due to its constant up and down and the narrowness of the paths. Well, when I think about the fact that we were overtaken in between, we just need more stamina ...<\/p>\n\n\n\n
