<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\nMeersburg is a really beautiful city. The upper town and the lower town, in the center, still largely consist of old buildings and are criss-crossed with narrow streets. There are still remains of the city wall, one Museum castle with castle garden<\/strong> and an old castle, the Meersburg. From the castle garden you have a wonderful view over Lake Constance to Konstanz and the island of Mainau on the right side and the Swiss mountains in the background on the left.<\/p>\n\n\n\nPanoramic view from the castle garden<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\nThe Meersburg<\/strong> separates the upper town from the lower town and is the oldest inhabited castle in Germany. Meersburg was first mentioned in a document in the middle of the 11th century, and the oldest surviving structural elements probably come from this time. The famous poet lived in the middle of the 19th century Annette von Droste-H\u00fclshoff<\/strong> here and died after a few years in the castle. The castle can be visited. There are also several events here, often on the weekends, such as medieval markets or life like in the Middle Ages.<\/p>\n\n\n\nMeersburg CastleMeersburg also has a ferry port where you can drive over to Konstanz. Round trips and ships to the flower island of Mainau also depart here. If you follow the promenade, you come to the harbor entrance for sailing boats. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is not accessible, but you can take nice photos from the shore. On the way there is a work of art on the promenade that Sound ship<\/strong>, half in the water. It is made of wood and metal and is called "At the moment". It was created during the war in Yugoslavia and was driven across the Danube to Sarajevo, where it stood for a short time. Now it has found its home port in Friedrichshafen.<\/p>\n\n\n\nSound ship<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\nThere is also another Zeppelin Museum<\/strong> right on the promenade. In Friedrichshafen, Count von Zeppelin is remembered again and again. Graf von Zeppelin relocated the production of the aviation ships to Friedrichshafen at the beginning of the 20th century. After losing airships in a thunderstorm, he had to rely on donations to pursue his dream. He converted these donations into a foundation that was tied to the conditions for building airships. If these can no longer be fulfilled, the foundation should be transferred to the city of Friedrichshafen and used for charitable purposes.
